Bartholomew Players present: "Dangerous Corner" by J.B. Priestley

Robert and Freda Caplan are hosting a lovely dinner at their country home. However, a chance remark by one of the guests sets off a series of devastating discoveries, unveiling a hitherto-undiscovered web of clandestine relationships and dark secrets, the disclosures of which have tragic consequences.

Director Joe O’Connor says “Dangerous Corner is a fascinating and complex play full of intrigue and mystery. In Priestley’s drawing-room thriller a casual comment about a music box ignites a firestorm of secrets centring on the recently-deceased brother of one of the characters. As revelation after revelation comes out the characters come more into view, revealing their strengths, weaknesses and of course, their all-too-human mistakes.

From the same writer as An Inspector Calls, Dangerous Corner will be an evening to remember.”

“I’m living among illusions,” intones Robert Caplan, solemnly contemplating what might have been, as this brooding tale wends towards its finale."

"The play takes place entirely in a drawing room, decorated in typically attractive Bartholomew Players style".

"There’s plenty to ponder – the cast all do the material justice, putting in plenty of energy".

"This complex and wordy thriller was brought vividly to life by this fine ensemble cast with a very convincing set and period looking props and set dressing".

Nigel James of ODN:

"What a tangled web this play presents, although this was a short play, it was fast moving and held the interest".

We are delighted to announce that the Bartholomew Players production of "Dangerous Corner", directed by Joe O'Connor in his very first Directing role, has won the Pat Redhead Drama Award (best in Oxfordshire & nominated for London) at the 2019 NODA Theatre Festival.

Dangerous Corner was shortlisted as one of 12 other plays in the London Region so this is a great accolade for us. Many congratulations to Joe, the cast and crew of Dangerous Corner for a performance that shows, once again, that the Bartholomew Players are a top-notch theatre group!
